JOB ADVERT Starting 4th January (applications finish Fri 14th January 2022 5pm)

Boot Up Outdoor Learning are seeking an experienced mature and reliable person to work with our vulnerable young people with behavioural difficulties ages 8 -18yrs primarily with Bushcraft and Green Woodworking (Bodger) in an Outdoor Environment.

You might sometimes support activities from arts & crafts, nature studies, gardening, construction & carpentry and Forest School in an Outdoor environment.  Individuals with new ideas and practices are always welcome.

This role demands a high level of responsibility, commitment and discipline as well as enthusiasm and being a strong supportive member of the team. The candidate must be empathetic, patient and kind as much of the role is in a pastoral capacity.

As young people access our services as part of their educational setting, support with vocational qualifications for our clients is expected. We also offer a Forest School Leadership L3 course and support for our students would be expected.

You will need to commit to a set day/days a week and be available TERM-TIME only on either Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (or a mix to be arranged) from 9am-3pm.

The work is SESSIONAL and the perfect-person is expected to plan, run and facilitate (prep and bring their own materials etc) their sessions as well as helping out with the general running of the site and not be shy of a bit of gardening or washing up! You must have your own transport.

£10 per hour for each 6 hour session (or part of). Applicants will be self-employed with a current UTR number. We also expect the candidate to have a current Enhanced DBS certificate although this can be organised for a small fee.

We expect you to have a minimum of Forest School Leadership L3 or 4 plus good long-term experience as well as other Outdoor Learning tickets/certificates.

There may be the opportunity to re-vitalise our other branch of Forest School with weekend and holiday sessions but this would depend on the candidate’s responsible nature and experience.

If you feel you fit the bill, please call or text Jane on 07967132919 or message via Facebook in the first instance then email jane@bootup.org.uk with the reasons why you feel you meet the requirements and what you can bring to group. A Job description sheet is available on request.

An interview could be arranged with an opportunity for a short practical demonstration of your skills.
